A closer look at the Acuter Pro spotting scope

Powerful zoom eyepiece

Designed for the serious birder and outdoor enthusiast, the Pro 80mm zoom spotting scope features a comfortable 45-degree 20x to 60x zoom eyepiece which delivers sharp, clear images at long- and short-range viewing distances. This zoom range is ideal for serious field-use, with the medium 20x to 30x magnification at the start of the zoom range being good for target location and wider-field viewing. The high-power magnifications are ideal for detailed observations even in poor light (deeply overcast, twilight etc). The Acuter spotting scope is constructed from lightweight polycarbonate and aluminium, and then part-rubber armour-covered for quiet, safe handling in the field and to protect the instrument from the bumps and knocks of a lifetime of regular use. Simply twist the eyepiece to alter the zoom magnification smoothly from 20x all the way up to 60x (with all magnifications in-between of course).

Camera ready: The Acuter zoom eyepiece has a T thread hidden under the rubber eyecup - all that is required to attach your D-SLR camera is a T-mount adaptor for your camera and a set of T extension tubes (AC603) - see lower left for recommended accessories.

For bright, high-contrast views, the Acuter Pro 80mm has superb fully anti-reflection-coated BaK4 prisms. The objective lenses are multi-coated for maximum light transmission and image contrast.

Lightweight polycarbonate and aluminium construction

Waterproof, fog-proof and nitrogen-purged to ensure many years of reliable performance. The scope is nitrogen-purged to ensure the views stay crystal-clear regardless of temperature changes (in and out of warm cars, hides etc).

Interchangeable eyepieces and accessories

The Acuter Pro 80 spotting scope is supplied with the superb 20-60x zoom and this may be all the eyepiece you'll ever need. The standard multi-coated zoom eyepiece offers generous eye-relief, as well as fold-back rubber eye-cups, making it suitable for all users including spectacle wearers. Additionally, all Acuter Pro spotting scopes have interchangeable eyepieces - and a range of additional eyepieces are available (see lower left). Also available separately is the unique Acuter USB digital camera that fits directly on to the telescope and allows you to watch, store and share images on your computer via the USB port.

Camera ready Conventional digital and film cameras can also be easily attached to the Acuter Pro Series via suitable adaptors which are available separately.

Ultra light-touch focus control A great feature of the Acuter Pro series scopes is the very light touch focus knob - it only takes the lightest touch with the tip of a finger to adjust the focus and this enhances the scopes performance still further as an ideal digiscoping instrument (see our YouTube channel above for more info on digiscoping).

The Acuter Pro even passes the tough astronomy test.

The demands of viewing the night sky are the equivalent of an assault course for telescopes, as they quickly sort the mediocre from the excellent - and the Acuter Pro is a great scope for astronomy. So, even if terrestrial and wildlife-watching is your main rationale for needing this scope, its good to know that the Acuter Pro can deliver top-performance when used on the night sky as well. Read part of the BBC review by clicking on the lower-most picture.

The Acuter Pro spotting scopes are supplied with quality soft padded carry cases for the telescope and eyepiece.
