The RB60-700 is a well constructed classic 60mm achromatic refractor with top quality two element(crown and flint glass) optics and features a well made easy-to-use cast aluminium altazimuth mounting with geared motion control knobs.

Electronic finder and new design AZ mount:

The new RB60 is a classic scope that benefits from an ultra modern makeover and features a special LED red-dot electronic finder with two brightness levels as well as the newly designed (and unique) RB60 single arm AZ telescope mount on its adjustable aluminium and ABS field tripod. The AZ mount is easy to use and has smooth geared control movements that feature large conveniently positioned control knobs for easy target finding and tracking on both azimuth (left to right) and altitude (up and down).

The complete package is handsomely boxed and comes with a great storage and carry-case (see top picure).

Additional features:

The RB60-700 shows its long Bresser pedigree in the unique up-to-date design of the tripod and mounting. The mounting is probably the most vital part of any telescope design - it's no good having great optics if you can't hold them steady enough to look through! The mounting of the RB60 is exceptionally well made for a telescope in this price-band and is more suggestive of a telescope costing three of four times the price. It's the little features that display the experience and thought that is the mark of the Bresser brand. For example: the tripod legs have a hinged central leg support with a accessory tray that simply locks into position in one easy move making the telescope quite literally child's play to set up.

It's the supremely easy set-up and use of the RB60 that makes it so ideal for explorers young and young at heart, the RB60 is the perfect instrument to discover the wonders of the remote wilderness of the night sky from your own back-garden.

Super easy set-up with the RB60-700 just four quick steps and you're ready to explore!

The instrument can be set up ready to use in just four easy steps - in under 2 minutes with just four simple steps the user can be observing!

So what’s so great about the Bresser RB60?

If you are looking for an an easy to set-up and use telescope to explore the night sky and observe first-hand the amazing range of astronomical targets that are displayed above your back-garden - look no further. The Bresser RB60-700 is a serious stater scope for all ages! It is an ideal family use telescope and has powerful features that make it perfect to enjoy the widest possible observing usage.

Even terrestrial views of nature, shipping etc are breathtaking and can be fully corrected (not inverted or mirrored) via the accessory 1.5x erecting eyepiece barrel (available seperatly - see recommended accessories - lower left). For astronomy viewing The RB60 is equipped with an electronic red dot finder (CR6 3V battery included!) that superimposes a red spot on the sky to show you exactly where the scope is pointing — this makes finding targets effortless and this high-tech finder has a two position brightness control so that it can even be used in bright daylight for spotting wildlife, birds, people, ships etc! The fully manual motion controlled adjustable head and tripod ensures that targets (terrestrial or astro) can be tracked without taking your eye from the eyepiece.

The RB60 comes complete with a 4-piece optics and eyepiece set including two eyepieces that combined with the included 2x Barlow lens deliver 28x, 56x, 77x and 155x magnification. The 2x Barlow lens is a very useful accessory that increases by a factor of two the magnification of any eyepiece used with it. Thus any of four magnifications between 28x and 155x can be selected simply by using a particular eyepiece or eyepiece+Barlow combination.

Complimenting the eyepiece set, a precise rack and pinion focusing system (the standard on good astronomy telescopes for decades!)snaps the image into pinpoint focus accurately and quickly.

What can you expect to see in your back-garden sky?

This telescope will show you some of the most amazing sights in the solar system right from your back garden! If you haven’t seen the surface of the Moon in a quality telescope then get ready for some incredible views. The Moon is an awesome spectacle any month of the year — its desolate and ancient surface showing thousands of impact craters and some of the most spectacular mountain ranges in the solar system! (and this from YOUR back-garden — and for under eighty quid! Ryan Air and Easy Jet, eat your hearts out!) The phases of the planet Venus, going rapidly from almost a full disc to a thin crescent can easily be seen and tracked over the weeks of its seasonal apparitions.

Under favorable conditions the planet Mars will show surface detail and at the right time of year the white frost of its polar cap. The giant planet Jupiter, just a bright star to the unaided eye, will, at around just 60x magnification, show the observer a larger image of Jupiter’s globe in the eyepiece than the full Moon appears to the unaided eye! Jupiter's four major moons can be tracked through the evening and can be seen transiting the disk or being eclipsed.

The famous rings that encompass the giant planet Saturn can be seen (and are truly unforgettable) as can Saturn’s enigmatic attendant moon, Titan. The brighter nebulae and galaxies millions of light-years distant can be seen with the RB60 with beautiful asterisms (groups of stars) like the Pleiades and globular clusters (swarms of stars in a clump) like the famous M13 can be easily viewed on any dark night when these targets are above the horizon.

A handsome modern starter scope for explorers of any age!
