The Bresser Stoertbeker 10-30x30 is made of brass (the lenses, of course, are glass!) with a fine, deep gloss lacquer to preserve the lustre of the polished shine of the external tubes. The main body is clad in soft brown leatherette with the seam stitched by hand.

Named somewhat alarmingly after a 15th century German pirate Klaus Stoertebeker (a Robin Hood type character by most popular accounts but, unlike Robin, rumoured to be somewhat bloodthirsty!) the Bresser Stoertebeker 10-30x30 is a classic four-tube draw observation or spotting scope widely used by mariners and shore observers for over 150 years. In popular fiction, no swaggering Pirate is complete without a scope like this in his tunic pocket!

This telescope will make a splendid gift for anyone interested in matters nautical - but rest assured this is not just a showpiece! The 10-30x30 or "Beker" (as the company that manufactures the scope likes to refer to it) is a top performer and although it looks like old-fashioned quality workmanship on the outside the optics are bang up to date with full multi coating for maximum contrast and a built-in roof prism system (instead of erector lenses that reduce image quality) to erect the image (so that everything in the eyepiece is the right way up and the right way round!).
