The new Spektar spotting scope features compact dimensions and a new quick-focus system. These features make them useful especially for nature observation and birding on journeys or while hiking. Light-touch side focus knob The ergonomically positioned side mounted focus knob has a light-touch rotating action and is ideal for digiscoping (digiscoping means taking digital pictures through the eyepiece with a small camera - see our YouTube channel above for demonstration). The Spektar 60 uses quality Bk-7 prisms and the glass surfaces are fully coated which improves light transmission by helping to reduce light scatter which can result in loss of contrast and brightness if uncoated optics are used. Due to the moderate start to the magnification range of 15-45x, the handy Spektar can be used without the necessity of a tripod at the lower 15x to 20x magnification range; using the higher magnifications beyond about 25x will require a tripod (not included)..
