We selected the Praktica DCZ 10.2 (Silver) and DPix 1100Z (Blue) after conducting digiscoping tests with a wide range of small digital cameras.

The 10 million pixel Praktica's have a superb full colour TFT 2.5inch LCD display screen that makes framing and focusing birds and wildlife targets easy and quick.

The camera has a 32Mb on-board memory and a standard SD memory card can be used with the camera (available separately). The camera has a useful (and fun!) movie capture function that allows the camera to be used to record full-motion and sound video.

The Praktica's are equipped with a powerful 3x optical zoom and an additional 4x Digital - an ideal size to minimise the effects of vignetting when used for digiscoping.

As you might expect from a camera aimed at slightly more advanced users, the DPix 1100Z and DCZ 10.2 supplement its automatic exposure mode with both aperture- and shutter-priority modes that let you unleash your creative side. ISO sensitivity choices include both automatic, and the ability to select an ISO rating from 50 to 400 (DCZ 10.2) and from 50 to 1600 (DPix 1100Z)

Supplied with download software, USB cable, video display cable (so you can review and show pictures on TV screen), pouch case and batteries (2xAA).

We found the specifications of the camera's to be an ideal camera for attachment to spotting scopes using the ST98 universal digiscoping bracket.

A cable release adaptor is available separately.
