We selected the Praktica Luxmedia 12-HD 12 megapixel camera after conducting digiscoping tests with a wide range of small digital cameras.

The 12 million pixel Praktica's have a superb full colour TFT 2.5inch LCD display screen that makes framing and focusing birds and wildlife targets easy and quick.

The camera has a 32Mb on-board memory and a standard SD memory card can be used with the camera (available separately). The camera has a useful (and fun!) movie capture function that allows the camera to be used to record HD full-motion and sound video.

The 12-HD is equipped with a powerful 3x optical zoom and an additional 5x Digital - an ideal size to minimise the effects of vignetting when used for digiscoping.

720 line HD video Now HD video quality is available in a digital compact camera. This superb 12.0 megapixel model will not only capture still images at a high pixel resolution but will also shoot video with sound at 720 lines which is true HD resolution. All can be framed and reviewed on a extra-large 3” colour monitor. The camera also features smile detection, face tracking, antishake and video antishake. Card support is for SD and SDHC up to 8GB capacity. System requirements: Windows 2000 / ME / XP / VISTA and Mac 10.0 – 10.3

Supplied with download software, USB cable, video display cable (so you can review and show pictures on TV screen), pouch case, battery and mains charger.

We found the specifications of the camera's to be an ideal camera for attachment to spotting scopes using the ST98 universal digiscoping bracket.

A cable release adaptor is available separately.
