The AZTech Trakker head and heavy duty tripod is an ideal mount for the sophisticated spotting scope user and perfect for grab-&-go astronomy with small to medium sized scopes.
AZTech Trakker and tripod package - is the ultimate in lightweight altazimuth telescope mounting with heavy weight performance. Featuring extended slow-motion controls, spring loaded clutches and an ultra quick-release attachment system.
If your passion is wildlife spotting or grab-and-go astronomy, the AE AZTech Trakker may be the only telescope mount you’ll ever need. The AZTech Trakker is an amazingly compact aluminium head with high-precision worm and gear manual drives on both the azimuth and altitude axis. Both motions have identical spring return clutches that enable the slow-motions to be instantly disengaged and the scope swung to a new target.
The mount is equipped with convenient flexible slow-motion extension knobs that can be easily removed for storage and transport if required.
The head is equipped with an ultra-quick release stage that allows the telescope to be removed or changed in less time than it takes to read this sentence! Telescope positioning can be done single-handedly as the quick-release lever is spring loaded for the return stroke and automatically snaps into position on contact. The Trakker is supplied with one quick-release plate and additional plates can be purchased separately (see AC670). The quick-release plate can be used to attach all telescopes and binoculars with standard 1/4” or 3/8” tripod fitting holes.
The Trakker is the ideal mount for small solar observing instruments and all models of Coronado Ha telescope can be fitted. The AzTech Trakker is also available as a “head” only.
The AC655 package features the AZTech Trakker head complete with flexible slow motion extension handles and large quick-release instrument mounting platform (scope can be mounted and de-mounted in 2 seconds using only one hand!) mounted on a portable all metal precision made field tripod.
The AC655 tripod has the rigidity you would expect from its all metal (stainless steel and aluminium) construction. It has heavy duty feet with hard anti-vibration rubber shoes that screw-retract to reveal ground spikes.
The AC655 tripod is made entirely from cast and machined aluminium alloy with stainless steel legs and other parts and at a maximum height of 1.75m (just over 68") it's one of the highest and most rigid tripods in our range and yet weighs in at under 4kg! The tripod features four position angle locks on each leg allowing the tripod down to ground level if required or to use a wall or other vertical structure as a brace as needed
The rigid centre column height is controlled by a conveniently placed lock. The tripod will easily hold spotting scopes, binoculars (with additional bracket) and cameras up to 5kg kilos and above.
A great feature (there are plenty!) of the tripod is the robust and user adjustable leg locks. A few years in to the life of a tripod there is nothing more annoying than a leg lock that starts to slip through normal wear and usage. With most tripods you either live with it as long as you can and then throw it away. The AC655 has fully user adjustable leg-locks and can be adjusted to the optimum tension regardless of wear.
Supplied with heavy duty nylon carry-bag with shoulder strap.
