This highly portable field tripod features an all metal ultra smooth 2 way pan & tilt head with three section 20mm diameter legs and is an ideal high performance support for all cameras a medium sized telescope or larger binocular (with mounting bracket).

The Vanguard Alta 1 also has an all metal quick release plate - flick a lever and the telescope or camera can be removed instantly.

Smooth pan & tilt head: The head features a large comfortable pan handle and smooth movements to ensure that you can follow the action without moving your eye away from your telescope or camera eyepiece.

Variable leg position To aid rigidity the legs have a head brace system that allows the legs to be locked in a range of positions.

The tripod is made from lightweight aluminium and weighs in at only 1.56kg!

The tripod will easily hold spotting scopes, binoculars (with additional bracket) and cameras up to 3 kilos in weight (typical 70mm binoculars or spotting scopes up to 70mm).

What's so great about the Evolution tripod?

Quality is the Alta's main feature. The tripod has a quality all metal design, with smooth operating moving parts and tough but lightweight construction. Like all Vanguard tripods, the Alta 1 is well engineered and maintains a high standard of stability even at full height. The three-legged section and rising centre column design brings its full height up to 1.42m from a fully collapsed height of only 50cm. The all metal quick-release plate gives the mounted equipment a solid base that feels much firmer compared to ABS and plastic QR plates. A centre column hook (see picture) allows ballast to be added to the tripod to increase stability and minimise vibration.
