Choosing a scope to mount on top of your firearm is a big deal. There are a variety of options available from a huge range of manufacturers. No matter what your budget or needs, you’ll always be seeking the highest level of quality for the lowest price.

If you’re in the market for a new scope, then you should certainly consider the range from Burris. They have something for every style of shooting and are built using quality components combined with the latest in engineering and technology.

So, I decided to put the very best Burris products up against each other to discover which is the best Burris scope.

About Burris Optics

burris optic

Don Burris was a design engineer for Redfield, a Denver-based optics company. In 1971 he decided to bite the bullet and formed Burris Optics because he believed he could create a better optic than what was currently available.

Don Burris’ had many achievements during his 12-years at Redfield. This includes innovations like the first 4-12x and 6-18x variable rifle scopes. He also was responsible for the first constantly centered non-magnifying reticle in variable power scopes. This design is used in 99% of all scopes today.

Small beginnings…

During the first four years of Burris Optics, the company produced rings, bases, and open sights. It wasn’t until 1975 that the first Burris optic, the iconic Fullfield rifle scope, was produced and is still manufactured to this day.

Don Burris passed away in 1987 with his company continuing to grow and be the first to market with numerous innovative products. It was acquired by Beretta Holdings in 2002, becoming part of the Beretta family of companies.

Today the Burris line of products includes hunting and tactical rifle scopes, red dot, and reflex sights, along with a complete line of rings and bases. Some of the latest innovations from Burris are the first titanium rifle scope and the first laser scope that instantly provides the distance to your target.

1 Burris Fullfield II – Best Budget Burris Scope

A great place to start with Burris is to take a look at the model where it all began. The Fullfield was the first optic Don Burris produced after his time at Redfield and still stands strong to this day as an accurate and reliable option.

This is the second generation of the Burris Fullfield and has three variable zoom range options. These include a 3x to 9x magnification power with a 40-millimeter objective lens, 4.5x to 14x and 42-millimeter objective, or 6.5x and 20x and a 50-millimeter objective.

Precision ground lenses…

The quality of glass at this price point is truly remarkable. Featuring precision-ground lenses that are larger than comparable scopes, it offers superior light transmission. This results in brighter, clearer, and more detailed images.

In addition, index-matched Hi-Lume multi-coating further enhances the already fantastic light transmission as well as eliminating glare. Accuracy is increased in both low light and bright conditions for a capable and versatile optic.

Ready for anything…

One-piece tube construction, reinforced quad-sealed gas seals, and being nitrogen filled provides a rugged design. The Fullfield II is shockproof, waterproof, and fog-proof for use in almost any type of conditions and terrain.

For a versatile mix of speed and accuracy, Fullfield II scopes are fitted with a Ballistics Plex reticle. Make every shot count and go the distance with the integration of a bullet drop compensator up to 500-yards (457-meters).

Burris Fullfield II
Our rating:4.8 out of 5 stars (4.8 / 5)

Pros

  • Highly affordable quality rifle scope.
  • Class leading lens clarity for this price point.
  • Shockproof, waterproof, and fog-proof design.

Cons

  • Lacks the features of more expensive models.
  • Difficult to hear the clicks when adjusting turrets.

2 Burris RT-6 – Best Compact Burris Scope

Carbine rifles like the AR platform are one of the most popular firearm choices in the USA. While many choose a red dot sight, there are still some great compact traditional optic options available, like the Burris RT-6 rifle scope.

With a zoom range of between 1x and 6x magnification, the RT-6 is actually shorter than most 1-4x scopes. Measuring only 10.3-inches (262-millimeters) in length and weighing only 17.4-ounces (493-grams), it is incredibly lightweight and compact.

Built-in throw lever…

For quickly swapping between magnification power, almost in an instant, the Burris RT-6 has a built-in throw lever. Both super fast and fully adjustable, it can be moved both fore and aft with its own stop points.

At 1x magnification power, gain the same advantage that is offered by red dot optic sights. Aim with both eyes open for a tactical advantage. Keep one eye on the target while remaining aware of your surroundings.

Double your chances…

The illuminated ballistics reticle offers the best of both worlds. For speedy target acquisition, rely on the red LED donut and dot. When further accuracy is required, there is a bullet drop compensator out to 600-yards (548-meters) along with windage hash marks.

Constructed from aircraft-grade aluminum as well as being O-ring sealed and nitrogen filled, the RT-6 can withstand almost any environment. Shockproof, waterproof, and fog-proof, this scope is ready for any condition.

Pros

  • Small and compact size for 1-6x variable magnification power.
  • Ballistics reticle provides the best of both worlds with speed and accuracy.
  • Aim with both eyes open for a tactical advantage at 1x magnification.

Cons

  • Limited range compared to larger rifle scopes.
  • Larger and heavier than a red dot optic.

3 Burris Veracity – Best Hunting Burris Scope

For long-range hunting or target shooting, the Burris Veracity has everything you need to make consistent and accurate shots. Using a 30-millimeter single-piece tube, the scope has various mounting options for multiple firearm models.

A 5x zoom range of between 4x and 20x magnification power can be used through the large 50-millimeter objective lens. The Veracity provides a wide field of view, making both tracking and aiming during hunts easier.

Forward focal plane…

With the ballistics reticle placed on the forward focal plane as users progress through the zoom range, the reticle size also increases. This means that all markings for bullet drop compensation and windage remain relevant.

For fine-tuning, both windage and elevation turrets are adjustable by 0.25 MOA per click. A side adjustable parallax dial lets users make fine adjustments without having to lose their shooting position.

True Zero Click Stop…

When you’ve been tracking game through the woods, the last thing you want to worry about is counting clicks. Make the necessary adjustments, then quickly and easily return to your initial zero with the True Zero Click Stop feature.

For use with high caliber rifles that create heavy recoil, the Burris Veracity has a generous eye relief of 3.5 to 4.25-inches (89 to 108-millimeters). As with all Burris optics, the scope is built tough with shockproof, waterproof, and fog-proof construction.

Pros

  • Great for long-range hunting and target shooting.
  • Dynamic, ballistic reticle on the forward focal plane.
  • True Zero Click Stop feature.

Cons

  • Less affordable traditional scope option.
  • Larger and heavier than mid-range capable scopes.

4 Burris BTS 50 – Best Thermal Burris Scope

Next in my Best Burris Scope review and harnessing the power of technology previously only available to the military is the Burris BTS 50 thermal scope. Mounting to your rifle just like a traditional scope, turn night into day when hunting coyotes or other predators.

The list of features included with the BTS 50 puts it head-to-head with any other thermal scope on the market. Even though Burris is fairly new to the thermal imaging market, this is a highly competitive and capable product.

Multiple color and design options…

There are seven different color pallets to choose from and ten reticle designs built-in to the BTS 50. No matter what type of conditions or environment you’re facing, there is a setting available to suit your needs.

Zoom range is between 2.9 and 9.2x magnification power for close to long-range targeting. Measuring only 9.8-inches (249-millimeters) in length and weighing only 25.4-ounces (720-grams) despite the advanced technology, the scope is compact and lightweight.

Hot tracking…

Something that sets the BTS 50 apart from other thermal scopes is the Hot Track feature. Heat signatures are automatically identified in the reticle. This makes it amazingly simple to track targets as they come into view.

Visually track animals such as boars and coyotes even if they move behind a bush. There’s even a warning system for approaching animals. Only Burris currently features this groundbreaking technology.

Pros

  • Hunt at night using thermal imaging technology.
  • Seven selectable color pallets and ten reticle designs.
  • Groundbreaking Hot Tracking feature only available on Burris.

Cons

  • This advanced level of technology isn’t the most affordable option.
  • Limited zoom range compared to other thermal scopes.

5 Burris Scout – Most Practical Burris Scope

Scout rifles are once again gaining in popularity, and why wouldn’t they? Compact, lightweight, and practical, these all-rounder rifles are designed to do many things equally well. And the Burris Scout rifle scope is the perfect match for them.

A variable zoom range of between 2x and 7x offers close to mid-range targeting through a 32-millimeter objective lens. Parallax is factory set to 100-yards (91-meters) and isn’t adjustable but matches the capabilities well.

Checks all the boxes…

Scout scopes have a lot to live up to. They need to be durable, and with the Burris Scout being made from aircraft-grade aluminum for shockproof construction, that’s a check. Generous eye relief is also required for heavy recoil, and at 12-inches (304-millimeters), that’s another check.

With scout rifles being compact and lightweight, that means the scope should match those characteristics. At 9.7-inches (246-millimeters) in length and weighing only 13-ounces (368-grams), another box can be confidently checked.

Ballistics Plex reticle…

A simple Ballistics Plex reticle is etched to the second focal plane that’s easy to see and draws the user’s eye to the center. For those longer-range shots, hash marks indicate the holdover points up to 600-yards (548-meters).

The glass is bright, clear, and provides an impressive image, considering the objective lens is only 32-millimeters. Hi-Lume multi-coating helps to increase light transmission when dull and reduce glare during bright and sunny conditions.

Need more info? No worries, it’s all in my in-depth Burris Scout 2-7x32mm Rifle Scope review.

Pros

  • Perfect match for the resurging scout guns.
  • Durable, lightweight, and compact design.
  • Simple Ballistics Plex reticle.

Cons

  • Limited magnification power for close to mid-range.
  • 1-inch tube size requires less common hardware for mounting.

6 Burris Eliminator III – Best Laser Rangefinder Burris Scope

And finally, in my review of the Best Burris Scopes, the Eliminator III has been called the most innovative and effective hunting rifle scope in the world. Combining the knowledge and experience of Burris’ traditional rifle scopes with the latest in technology, the results are incredible.

The scope itself offers a variable zoom range of between 4x and 16x through a large 50-millimeter objective lens. Integrated into the scope is also an accurate laser rangefinder giving users an almost unfair advantage.

Eliminate variables…

The laser range finder combined with precise trajectory compensation not only determines the distance of your target but also factors in your trajectory. With the simple push of a button, a bright red illuminated dot indicates your new aiming point.

This will significantly extend the range and accuracy of your current rifle. Programming is simple and can be done using a Website App to enter information for gaining precise data. Accurately interpret your elevation, atmospheric conditions, and cartridges being used.

Even more great features…

The Eliminator III isn’t just a one-trick pony either, as the same care and attention to detail have been applied to the optics. Both windage and elevation can be adjusted at 0.125 MOA per click for precise adjustments.

Eye relief is generous at 3.5 to 4-inches (89 to 102-inches) for use with high caliber rifles. Like all Burris scopes, the same aircraft-grade aluminum has been used for construction, making it lightweight and durable for use in even the most demanding conditions.

For even more information on this excellent scope, take a look at my in-depth review of the Burris 4-16x50mm Eliminator III Ballistic Riflescope.

Pros

  • Integrated laser range finder and trajectory compensation.
  • Easily extend the range and accuracy of your current rifle.
  • Quality materials and optics combined with the latest technology.

Cons

  • Almost feels like you’re cheating when hunting.
  • All your friends will be jealous of your new scope.

Every scope in the Burris range is built tough and will last many years while also being backed by their lifetime warranty. That makes this decision even harder, especially with each product having so much to offer.

However, I decided to go with the…

Burris Eliminator III

Not only does this scope offer the same consistency, reliability, and accuracy as every Burris optic, but it also features some amazing technology. Any product that can increase firearm capabilities, safety, and therefore enjoyment deserves praise.

Considering all of this the price is actually very reasonable.

Happy and safe shooting.
